Day 1: Genekha to Gur
Distance: 7KM | Duration: 5-6 hours | Elevation: 230m ascent, 60m descent | Camp Altitude: 3290m
Begin with a 45-minute drive to Genekha Village, known for its matsutake and chanterelle mushrooms. Start trekking along a mule path through terraced fields and coniferous forests teeming with birds and alpine flora. Descend to a river and climb gradually to a rock platform at 3350m for valley views. Continue uphill to the Gur campsite, surrounded by wildflowers.
Day 2: Gur to Labatama
Distance: 12KM | Duration: 6 hours | Elevation: 1010m ascent | Camp Altitude: 4300m
Trek across ridges covered in wild vegetation and colorful flowers. Pass streams and birch forests to Pagalabtsa Pass (4250m), offering stunning views of Kanchenjunga (Sikkim) and Bhutanese peaks. Descend into Labatama Valley, past yak herder camps, and ascend gradually to Utsho Lake (4300m), known for golden trout. Camp near the lake.
Day 3: Exploratory Halt at Labatama
Spend the day exploring nearby lakes such as Relitsho, Hentsho, Setsho, and Jagetsho, all rich in trout. Enjoy a lakeside lunch and listen to mystic stories from your guide. Optionally, climb Jomo Peak (5050m) for breathtaking views. Return to camp by dusk.
Day 4: Labatama to Panka

Walk along the western side of Dalatsho Lake to a saddle at 4520m, offering panoramic views of Everest (Nepal), Kanchenjunga (Sikkim), Masangang, Tiger Mountain, and Jichu Drake. Descend past yak herder huts to Doccha Chuu River, following the slope to Panka. Spot Himalayan monal pheasants, yaks, and horses along the way.
Day 5: Panka to Thimphu via Talakha and Chamgang
Distance: 14KM | Duration: 8 hours | Elevation: 180m ascent, 1540m descent
Cross multiple scenic passes with blooming blue poppies (June-July) and vibrant birdlife. Lunch at a trail junction, then climb gradually to Tale La Pass (4180m) for spectacular views of the Dagala range and Thimphu Valley. Descend through spruce, birch, juniper, and rhododendron forests to Talakha Goempa (3080m). Hike down through apple orchards to Chamgang Village, where a car awaits to transfer you to Thimphu.
